Here‘s just a quick hint on trying to access Smile online banking facilities using Safari as your browser … if you have got “Block Pop-Up Windows” enabled, you won’t be able to log in. Disable the blocking and it'll all work! Use Command (apple) K to toggle blocking on and off.
The same is true for scottishpower - if you use them to supply your enery and you supply your meter readings / look at your account online etc.
Another way of getting around the problem is to hold down command (apple) when you click on the link to open the window.
Now, then I've posted before about Key Xing and various other cool apps. I love for instance DragThing. But just yesterday I installed something that is a true revelation … leading to a real revolution!!!
Once upon a time, before the ubiquitous keyboard, video, mouse combo took over the world, all we had was a keyboard. Now the mouse is a very handy thing; indespensible for many tasks, but it is beginning to show its age when trying to keep up with the huge number of files and applications we are likely to use. Introducing … Quicksilver … it‘s free (luvverly) and it’s quick.
LINK : Install it, then just hit command space, then start typing … you'll see … eg. command+space (C+S), c h i x … and up pops Mr Wickins - now do I want to call him, email him or what?? Or C+S, k e y c … up pops keychain application - one that I hardly ever use.
Give it a go … you might find it changes the way you work forever!!!!
Free (open source) word processor - supposedly reads and writes word files and works in Aqua (unlike OpenOffice.org which requires X11). Launches really quick on my Powerbook - so must be quite tidy. Beta Stage only at the mo but looks promising. And the winner is ….

"synergy: [noun] a mutually advantageous conjunction of distinct elements
Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It's intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s)."
QuickImageCM: “Contextual menu plugin that makes it possible to view/edit/print image files without launching any applications. Also it has various other functions like add/remove thumbnail icons, rename image files, convert images files to a different format, etc.”
New York Times: A cool exploded view of the Mini: "The NYT circuit‘s section ran an article about (Reg. Required) about the Mac Mini today and while that’s pretty run of the mill, they also produced a pretty awesome exploded-view diagram of the mini that I wanted to post up here:
The Mini relies on a combination of strategies to keep things cool. Like some earlier Apple products, it relies heavily on what Mr. Schiller calls ‘passive heat reduction.’ This involved designing a heat sink for the warmest components and carefully designing interior airflow patterns. But the Mini also has an active system - a small fan that comes on when necessary to increase the airflow."
