this isn't new by any means, but i was finishing up stuff for my kids piece and i just fell in love with this. designed by eero aarnio in the early seventies, [pony](http://www.eero-aarnio.com/index.php/page/26/title/Pony_Chair.htm) is a classic piece that certainly deserves some more contemporary attention. although it looks like a child's toy (and certainly would work as one), the dimensions of the pony are actually fit for an adult- it's a whimsical seat that clearly expresses aarnio's love of fantasy. when asked about it he said, 'a chair is a chair, is a chair, is a chair ... but a seat does not necessarily have to be a chair. tt can be anything as it is ergonomically correct. a seat could even be a small and soft Pony on which you can 'ride' or sit sideways.' rotofugi

rotofugi:

        next up on the chicago front is [kid robot](http://www.kidrobot.com/)-style toy store, [rotofugi](http://www.rotofugi.com/). i've never really jumped into the whole realm of toy design because for some reason it overwhelms me. however, i found this store's stock pretty approachable and certainly worth mentioning. my favorite was a [DIY collection](http://rotofugi.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?) that came ready to paint, decorate, sketch on, etc etc. you can't beat diy design, you really can't. i think it's a great idea. their selection of the diy designs is a bit sketchy at the moment but they promise to restock some of the several styles asap. click [here](http://rotofugi.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RDTS&Product_Code=TOY-044c) for more info.
